Song Bung 2 Hydropower Plant Pipeline Burst, Many Workers Swept Away
At around 5:00 p.m. on September 13, 18 workers were repairing the Song Bung 2 hydropower plant water pipe (Nam Giang, Quang Nam) when the pipe suddenly burst, sweeping many people away.

According to Colonel Nguyen Viet Loi, Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police, the incident occurred in the water pipeline leading to the turbine, about 2 km from the dam bank. The cause has not been determined.
According to a source from Nam Giang district police, the floodwaters swept away two excavators, killing at least two excavator operators.
Rescue forces of Nam Giang district police are entering the scene. Vice Chairman of the province Huynh Khanh Toan directly commanded the rescue.
Over the past two days, Quang Nam has had heavy rain due to the storm. Access to the scene is very difficult due to the remote location and rugged mountainous terrain near the border.
Bung 2 Hydropower Plant is located in Zuoi commune, and the pipeline is located in Cho Chun commune, Nam Giang district, about 110 km from Thanh My town center (Nam Giang).
Song Bung 2 Hydropower Plant is located in the hydropower cascade of the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river system, started construction in 2012, installed capacity of 100 MW, average annual electricity output is 425.57 million kWh. The total investment of the project is more than 3,600 billion VND, but by May 2016 the capital had increased to over 1,600 billion VND.
