Since his wife passed away, Mr. Dinh Duc Thuan (37 years old), residing in Hamlet 1, Hung Phuc Commune (Hung Nguyen) and his three young children have been in a difficult situation, and now their situation is even more miserable. Every day, after taking his two older children to school, he rushes home to take care of his disabled youngest child. The man's rough hands awkwardly hold the little child up to feed him spoonfuls of porridge. Dinh Viet Nhat is 18 months old, but he just lies in one place, his limbs are cramped, shriveled, and his head is abnormally large, making anyone who sees him feel sorry.
Thuan's mother, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong (63 years old), choked up: "My poor child, born without a drop of his mother's milk, lost his mother before he was 1 year old. His father was infected with Agent Orange, slow, stupid, not as intelligent as a normal person. Many days when I heard the baby crying, I anxiously ran in and saw his father sitting there, as if he didn't hear anything....".
Mr. Thuan was infected with Agent Orange from his father. His father fought in the Southern battlefield from 1969 to 1976. After being discharged from the army for a year, he and Mrs. Huong got married. They had three children together, but only the eldest daughter was healthy and normal, while Mr. Thuan and his twin sister were mentally retarded and often sick. When they grew up, seeing that their two children were still foolish and silly, their grandparents took them to the doctor and found out that they were infected with Agent Orange from their father.

Being clumsy and slow, Thuan had to drop out of school early. When he reached adulthood, he applied to work as a factory worker and eventually got married. After getting married, all income depended on his wife's salary, so life was always difficult. Out of pity, relatives contributed money to build a small house for Thuan and his wife. However, that joy did not last long before sadness came. In 2017, when the couple welcomed their third child, they discovered that the baby was disabled. Even more sadly, after 15 days of giving birth, having difficulty breathing and chest pain, his wife went to the doctor and found out that she had heart disease.
After many hesitations due to financial difficulties, in February 2018, the family took her to Hanoi for treatment. Here, the doctors said that the patient's heart disease was too severe, with an aortic aneurysm, so the possibility of successful surgery was very low. Moreover, the amount of 200 million VND was too much for the family. After a period of fighting the disease, his wife passed away, leaving him with 3 small, sick children.

Since his wife passed away, the life of Thuan and his four children has become even more difficult. He was naive and now he seems to have lost his soul, so his three children often go hungry. Feeling sorry for his children who have to live alone, Mrs. Huong takes advantage of her time to help. But because she has to run a small business at the market to earn extra income for her children, she often cannot be there to take care of them. Not only is the youngest child sick, but the second child, Dinh Duc Dung, who is currently in first grade, is also stupid, constantly sick, and at risk of having to drop out of school.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thin - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Phuc Commune (Hung Nguyen) said: "The situation of Mr. Thuan's family is extremely difficult. His wife passed away, Mr. Thuan himself was infected with Agent Orange, and his youngest son was also infected with the poison from his father, so he is disabled. His family is considered a poor household. The local government always encourages and visits the family, but mainly spiritually. His family's situation really needs the cooperation of society and philanthropists to help him and his son stabilize their lives."
