American MMA fighter Jeff Monson wants to join the Russian Communist Party after he will receive a Russian passport.The athlete shared this with the online newspaper Lenta.ru.

"Behind me is a successful sports career. I want to use this platform to help others. I see myself as having the ability to do politics. I am waiting to receive a Russian passport to join the Communist Party, I will work with their youth organization," — Monson said.

According to the newspaper, the athlete plans to popularize sports in Russia, but promises to do this work "separately from politics".

Monson first announced his desire to become a Russian citizen in March 2013, and in early 2015 he got a tattoo of the famous "Motherland Calls!" monument in Volgograd.
