The boxing world was stunned to see Curtis Harper walk out of the ring right after the match started.

The fight between American boxer Curtis Harper and Nigerian boxer Efe Ajagba was scheduled to last one second. Immediately after the opening bell, Harper walked out of the ring and walked out of the arena. The referee disqualified Harper and awarded the win to Ajagba.

Harper revealed to journalist Jordan Hardy of Premier Boxing Champions, which broadcast the fight, that the reason for leaving the game was because he "wasn't paid properly and didn't receive respect".

However, Harper's reason did not receive sympathy even from his training partner - Nate Campbell. "He disrespected himself, his wife, his fans and me," Campbell wrote on social media.

"He signed the contract and accepted to fight," promoter Leon Margules toldBBC Sport"We only heard about the money after he left the ring. He went to the weigh-in, showed up for the fight and even touched gloves with his opponent. It was so strange. If he wasn't happy, why did he agree to fight in the first place?"

Fans booed Harper as he walked the long way out of the arena. It was the 30-year-old's sixth defeat, along with 13 wins. Ajagba, meanwhile, has a perfect record after six fights, including five knockouts.

Footage of Harper entering the ring was shared on social media by former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis. Dave Coldwell, who trains British boxer Tony Bellew, said he had never seen anything like it in his career.
