Volkswagen unveils new Virtus sedan
In its product development strategy from now until 2025, Volkswagen will expand its influence by launching a series of new models, including the new Virtus sedan. In fact, Virtus is the new name of Polo in the South American market.
The Virtus is based on the sixth-generation Polo's MQB A0 platform, which is designed for a variety of body styles, from sedans, hatchbacks, crossovers to SUVs. The newly revealed renderings give us a glimpse of the upcoming model.

The body has a lot of similarities between the high-end Passat and the Vento (currently on sale in India). The C-pillar is designed to be swept back. Some experts speculate that the sedan's wheelbase will be 2,600mm - 36mm longer than the hatchback version. The Virtus' luggage compartment volume is expected to be 500L.
For the South American market, the Virtus will be offered with two options: a 1.6L four-cylinder petrol engine with 117 horsepower and 162Nm of torque; and a 1.0L three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, (128 horsepower and 200Nm of torque). Volkswagen will equip the old-generation 1.6L engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged engine will be favored with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The new sedan will replace the already familiar Voyage and Polo sedans in the Brazilian market. In addition, Skoda has confirmed that it is currently developing a low-cost "Eco" platform based on MQB. The platform will be shared by VW and Skoda. There is no information yet on the presence of the Virtus sedan in India.
