There has not been a Russia-US trade war, but relations have worsened. |
But the second round of sanctions could freeze relations, if not a trade war, in which the response to new US sanctions will be timely, proportionate and appropriate, said Leonid Slutsky, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma.
"Russian experts do not see any serious threat in the first round of US sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex, we have long been working on import substitution. But if there is a second round — not yet a trade war, but it means freezing relations. I am sure that Russia's response will be timely, proportionate and appropriate," Slutsky told journalists.
