Case of 4 gold miners suffocating to death: Wife of district police captain and 3 people from Nghe An arrested
Quang Nam Provincial Police have decided to prosecute and temporarily detain four suspects related to the gold mine gas suffocation incident that killed four people.
This afternoon (April 15), Colonel Nguyen Duc Dung, Chief of Staff (Quang Nam Police), said that the three-month temporary detention order was approved after the investigation agency collected a lot of information showing serious violations.

The four arrested subjects include: Van Thi Hoai Thuong (born in 1980; residing in Thanh My town), Va Ba Nhia (born in 1993; residing in Muong Long commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province), Cut Van Hoanh (born in 1987) and Cut Van Binh (born in 1998; both residing in Bao Thang commune, Ky Son district).
The suspects were charged with "Violating regulations on research, exploration and exploitation of natural resources" and "Illegal storage and use of explosives".
According to VietNamNet sources, notably among those arrested, suspect Van Thi Hoai Thuong is the wife of a police captain in Nam Giang district.
Previously, on the evening of April 12, a serious gas suffocation incident occurred in Dung village, Thanh My town (Nam Giang), killing 4 people. 3 of the 4 victims were siblings in a very poor ethnic minority family in Bao Thang (Nghe An).
Authorities are continuing to investigate.
