On April 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov affirmed that the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia Skripal could bring benefits to the British side.
Mr. Lavrov also said that how much the dispute between Moscow and the West escalates does not depend on Russia.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also affirmed that during the Cold War, some rules still existed, but now Britain and the United States have stopped following the conventions and are "playing childish games".
Russia has denied responsibility for the attack on former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury on March 4. The Kremlin has also warned Russians to think carefully about traveling to Britain, where they face “discrimination” and “provocations”.
While Moscow directly blamed the MI5 or MI6 intelligence and security agencies for poisoning former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, the British Embassy in London implied that British officials could have planted “additional illegal items” in the luggage to cause trouble for Russian citizens.
Students coming to the UK to study foreign languages, as well as fans of Russian professional football club CSKA Moscow attending this week's Europa Cup match against Arsenal, could be victims of a campaign launched by Theresa May's government "to smear Russia and Russians", the warning said.
According to it, Russian people should expect “special attention from British law enforcement and intelligence agencies” due to the rift in bilateral relations related to the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal.
