Farmers in Dien Hai commune - Dien Chau have a good winter corn crop. |
This winter crop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hao's family (Hamlet 8, Nghi Lam Commune) planted 4 sao of corn. With this area, last year the entire corn harvest was sold to An Thinh Khang Company Limited. "With the enterprise's method of purchasing the whole plant, it is convenient for farmers to shorten production time and increase crop value. Farmers are very excited because the enterprise will buy all the corn they sell. This year, the weather is favorable for the corn to grow well, and will definitely yield a high yield," Ms. Hao shared.

With a farm scale of 45,000 dairy cows, the demand for feed for the herd is very large, TH Group has contracted to purchase whole corn and corn in many localities in the province such as Nghia Dan, Quy Hop, Tan Ky, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen... with a purchase output of over 100 thousand tons/year. Corn is a good source of nutrients for dairy herds, especially rich in protein to help increase milk production, so corn is an indispensable source of food for cows. Currently, TH purchases whole corn for people in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces at a field price of 800 thousand VND/ton.
According to farmers' calculations, 1 hectare of corn sold as a whole plant yields 30-35 tons, earning 24-25 million VND, while if corn is sold as kernels, it will only fetch 20-22 million VND, and the growing time is longer, because farmers often choose to grow corn to sell as whole plants to businesses that purchase it for animal feed. When the corn kernels start to turn yellow, people harvest and sell the whole plant at the same time, which is very beneficial for farmers.
