Russia has announced plans to build a military church to reinforce the values of "patriotism, love and devotion to the country" among soldiers.
Construction of the Armed Forces Cathedral will begin soon.
Colonel Andrei Kartapolov, the man behind the project, said the church would promote the spiritual values of the Russian Armed Forces. Mr. Kartapolov is the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia and the head of the Main Political Directorate, which is responsible for the political education of soldiers, the National Interest reported.
Russian media said the interior of the church will be decorated with paintings depicting historical battles. The main color of the church is blue, similar to the color of Russia's standard missile systems and armored vehicles.
At 95 meters high, the church was designed to accommodate 6,000 troops.
"Mr. Kartapolov believes that modern Russian soldiers cannot be oriented to development without a noble spirit," the Russian press said.
"When talking about ideology, the Russian Deputy Defense Minister pointed out that this will be based on knowledge of the country's history, people and historical-cultural traditions," the Russian press emphasized.
