Previously, on July 14, a clip appeared on Facebook showing a man throwing 5 cartons of milk onto the street in front of Tu Bac supermarket (77 Dinh Cong Trang, Vinh City). This man was later identified as Nguyen Canh Cuong (born in 1988, currently residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh City).
The cause was determined to be that Mr. Cuong had previously bought a box of Glico milk imported from Japan at Tu Bac supermarket for his child to drink. However, after drinking more than half of the box, Mr. Cuong's child had symptoms of stomachache and diarrhea and had to be hospitalized for treatment. Mr. Cuong suspected that the cause of his child's stomachache was due to the quality of Glico milk, so he acted like that.
Working with reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bac - owner of Tu Bac supermarket said that when Mr. Cuong and Mr. Hung came, the supermarket gave this family 30 million VND. However, the money was not given in writing.
According to Nghe An Newspaper's source, the investigation agency is also clarifying the content of "this 30 million VND".

Tu Bac Supermarket - where the incident happened. |
Regarding the milk scandal at Tu Bac supermarketOn the afternoon of July 22, SnB Distribution Company Limited sent a press release to the press.
Announcement content On May 28, 2016, SnB Distribution Company received information from Tu Bac agent - 77 Dinh Cong Trang - Vinh City, Nghe An about Mr. Nguyen Canh Cuong (Nghi Phu, Vinh City, Nghe An) coming to Tu Bac supermarket to complain about his son (at that time the baby was 5 months old) having diarrhea and Mr. Cuong suspected it was due to drinking Glico ICREO milk number 0. The baby had used the third box of milk and at the time of the complaint, there was a doctor's prescription stating that the baby had acute diarrhea without dehydration and there was no conclusion on the cause of the diarrhea.
SnB Distribution Company immediately sent a representative to Nghe An to find out the cause of the incident. On the morning of May 29, the three parties (representatives of SnB Distribution Company, agent Tu Bac and representative of Mr. Cuong's family) had difficulty meeting because the customer kept changing the meeting place. When they finally met, the company representative was not allowed to see the child, and the family did not let the company see the milk box.
At the meeting, the company representative also presented documents on the import process, food safety certification when importing goods, and affirmed the quality of the milk during the production and packaging process in Japan. The company requested to bring the milk carton suspected of having problems for inspection at the authorities, but the family did not agree and informed that because they had an acquaintance who was a doctor, they would test it themselves and send the results to the company. However, up to now, the company has not received this inspection certificate. Due to not receiving cooperation from the customer to clarify the issue, the SnB representative returned to the headquarters to report and continued to contact the customer many days later, but the customer did not answer the phone.
During the following period, Tu Bac Agent informed that the Customer who came directly to the agent continuously caused difficulties, but the agent continued to regularly visit the baby's health.
On July 12, 2016, the Company continued to receive information from the agent that Mr. Cuong suddenly requested the Company to meet with his family again to continue to clarify the incident. At this meeting, SnB Distribution Company Ltd. proposed a plan with the family to take the baby to a reputable medical facility for a health check, and at the same time bring the milk sample to the competent inspection agency, but the customer still only asked the company to come up with another plan (without specifying what plan) before deciding whether to go for inspection or not. Because the company did not receive cooperation in the direction of the proposal in accordance with the legal procedures that the company had proposed, the company representative left to report to the company's leadership. Immediately after that, the customer came to the agent again and caused a disturbance at the agent, affecting the reputation of the agent as well as the company.
SnB Distribution Company Ltd. directly coordinated with the agent in this matter but did not receive cooperation from Mr. Cuong's family, so we could only stop at inquiring about the baby's health.
Meanwhile, before being detained by the police, Mr. Nguyen Canh Cuong confided in Nghe An Newspaper reporter about this incident. According to Mr. Cuong, on May 29, a representative of SnB Distribution Company Limited came to work with Mr. Cuong's family. Here, the company representative wanted to take the milk carton to assess the quality. Sharing the reason for not agreeing to let the company take samples, Mr. Cuong said that the family requested that the assessment must be witnessed by all three parties to be objective and only then could the exact cause of my child's diarrhea be found. Also at this meeting, the company representative said that the company gave the family 2 cartons of milk in exchange for the carton of milk with the foreign object. If anything happens to the child after drinking it, they should report it to the company. However, Mr. Cuong did not accept the 2 cartons of milk and only agreed to accept 2 packs of diapers, saying that he did not feel secure about continuing to let his child use the company's milk. The company left and said that they would notify the customer of a solution. According to Mr. Cuong, it has been nearly a month but the company still has not contacted his family to find a solution. On July 13, a representative of the distribution company, owner of Tu Bac supermarket, met with Mr. Cuong's family at a coffee shop in Vinh City. The representative of the distribution company recorded the family's opinions and suggestions. On the morning of July 14, the three parties continued to meet and negotiate. This time, Mr. Cuong's family brought the Glico milk box for the milk company's representative to take pictures and record additional opinions. However, according to Mr. Cuong, the company did not fulfill its promise and returned to Hanoi without informing his family. Because of his anger, Mr. Cuong and his wife went to Tu Bac store, argued with the store owner, and bought 5 boxes of Glico milk and threw them on the street. ''I was so upset, my family had made concessions time and time again, but the milk company just wanted to probe and put others in a difficult position. After that, my family called the Le Mao Ward Police to make a record and record the incident," said Mr. Cuong. |
