Factory explosion in South Korea: Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea protects citizens

After receiving information about the factory explosion, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to urgently take necessary citizen protection measures to ensure the rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.

According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea and South Korean police, at 9:45 a.m. (local time) on November 10, an explosion occurred at the Foosung Precision Industry Co. factory in Wonju city, eastern South Korea, killing two Vietnamese workers and injuring two other Vietnamese workers.

Initial information said that the two deceased victims were Chu Van Duong, born in 1987, and Tang Van Khanh, born in 1990; and the two injured workers were Do Quoc Hung, born in 1987, and Vuong Dac Khai, born in 1997.
Two seriously injured workers are currently being treated at Wonji Severance Christian Hospital.
South Korean police said initial information was that the explosion occurred due to a short circuit in a welding lamp while two Vietnamese workers were repairing corroded parts of a chemical tank.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to request the Korean side to investigate the information and promptly take necessary citizen protection measures to ensure the rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens.
According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea, at 5:00 a.m. on November 9, a fire broke out at a dormitory in Jongno 3-ga, Jongno District, Seoul City, Korea, killing 6 people and injuring 12 others.
The apartment building has 50 residents living on the 2nd and 3rd floors, including 2 Vietnamese students.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Korea has contacted two Vietnamese students and learned that they were not injured or damaged in the fire.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea to continue monitoring the situation and coordinate with relevant local agencies to soon stabilize the lives and studies of Vietnamese students.
