"Bomb-like" explosion in Van Phu: Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung directs 6 things to be done immediately

Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung shared the loss with the four families of the victims who died in the big explosion and directed professional units to actively overcome the consequences and clarify the incident.

At 5:00 p.m. on March 19, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung arrived at the scene of the bomb-like explosion at Van Phu Urban Area, Ha Dong District, Hanoi.

At the scene, forces from Hanoi Police, the Capital Command, fire police and rescue forces, and other forces initially reported on the incident.

As previously reported, on the afternoon of March 19, in Van Phu urban area, Ha Dong district, Hanoi, an explosion occurred, killing 4 people and injuring several others, including two seriously injured. Preliminary direct damage was estimated at 36 apartments.

The initial cause of the explosion was determined to be a family that collects scrap metal. Before the explosion, the homeowner brought an explosive material to the sidewalk and started sawing it. The material then exploded, creating a hole about 2 meters deep and more than 2 meters wide. It is not yet known what type of explosive material caused the explosion.

After listening to the report, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung directed 6 measures to be implemented urgently.

Firstly, the Hanoi People's Committee will support each deceased victim with 5 million VND, each seriously injured victim with 3 million VND and each slightly injured victim with 2 million VND. In addition, the Ha Dong District People's Committee and other agencies will provide additional support to the victims.

Second, assign the Capital Command and engineering forces to continue checking the scene and surrounding area to detect whether or not there are any explosives left at the scene for immediate handling.

Third, assign the investigation agency and the City Police to guide and direct, quickly examine the scene, conduct an investigation to clarify the cause of the explosion to announce to the public as soon as possible.

Fourth, local authorities coordinated with the victims' families to organize funerals and visit and encourage families with injured victims and families affected by the incident.

Fifth, assign the People's Committee of Ha Dong district to review and arrange accommodation for families with severe damage and unsafe cracked houses.

Sixth, organize environmental sanitation, clean the scene after the examination to help people stabilize their lives.
