House explosion in Nghe An: Another son dies, daughter-in-law has to have both legs amputated

Regarding the explosion that occurred on the afternoon of December 18 in Long Son Commune, Anh Son, according to the source, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan (born in 1997) died at the hospital at 9:00 p.m. the same day. Currently, neighbors and the village's Front Committee are preparing to bury Mr. Tiep and Mr. Thuan.

Mr. Thuan's wife, Ms. H Hen Dung (born in 1999), had to have both legs amputated and could not keep her 3-month-old baby.

At the scene, the level 4 house completely collapsed, pieces of tiles flew about 30 meters away. The main house had its entire roof blown off, the walls were completely cracked, and was in danger of collapsing. About 15 meters from the collapsed house, the buffalo pen area also had its roof completely blown off.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phi - Head of Village 9 recounted that when the village was preparing to hold a meeting with voters, a loud explosion was heard. People ran to see Mr. Tiep dead on the spot, his body was no longer intact, Mr. Thuan was crushed by pieces of wall although he was still conscious. Mr. Thuan's wife was lying on a hammock on the porch and both of her legs were crushed by pieces of wall.

According to Mr. Phi, Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep's family is in a difficult situation. Mr. Thuan is the son of his second wife. After going to the Central Highlands to do business, he met and married Ms. H Hen Dung. The couple has just returned to their hometown for over a year. At the time of the explosion, Mr. Thuan's 3-year-old daughter was lying with her mother in a hammock but luckily was not injured.

On the morning of December 19, a working delegation of the People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Red Cross Society of Anh Son district visited, encouraged, and supported the family with 20 million VND.

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, at around 2:15 p.m. on December 18, an explosion occurred at the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep (born in 1970, residing in village 9, Long Son commune, Anh Son district). As a result, Mr. Tiep died on the spot.

Mr. Tiep's son, Nguyen Van Thuan (born in 1997) and daughter-in-law, H Hen Dung (born in 1999) were seriously injured and were taken to Anh Son District General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred to the Provincial General Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated by authorities.
