Explosion at Nam Cam Industrial Park: Many victims suffered deep burns to their faces, backs, limbs and feet

(Baonghean.vn) – As reported, this morning, a large boiler explosion occurred at the wood factory of the Vietnam Wood World Joint Stock Company. The explosion seriously injured many workers. After the explosion, the injured workers were taken to the 115 Nghe An General Hospital and the Provincial Friendship General Hospital for emergency treatment.

There are currently 7 patients being treated at General Hospital 115, of which 5 are severely burned.

At Nghe An General Hospital 115, there are currently 7 workers receiving emergency care and treatment. Of these, 5 workers suffered very severe burns to the head, back, arms and legs; 2 others suffered less severe burns and did not require long-term hospitalization.

After being taken care of, Mr. Pham Thanh Nhan became more alert and recounted the incident.

Mr. Pham Thanh Nhan, 24 years old, a worker in the pressing department of the Vietnam Wood World Joint Stock Company, after being taken care of and regaining consciousness, recounted: The accident happened at 9:45, at that time the heat in the furnace was enough to press the boards. After we finished pressing the boards, the furnace and the system exploded very loudly. By inertia, I ran as fast as I could to the door to escape. When I turned back, I saw 3 people in the team were seriously injured, with burns all over their skin. I was less injured, only my arms and back... When I got here, the doctors took good care of me, and the pain and burning sensation lessened.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao is still shocked and scared.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, 30 years old, a worker in the wood cutting department, who suffered minor burns, said: When the explosion happened, I was bending down to load boxes. When I heard the explosion, I looked up and saw the fire. All the workers ran away from the fire, but there were 4 people pressing boards directly near the machine who could not run. I was able to run out, but the suction force of the machine still pulled me back, so the fire burned my hand.

It is known that the boiler is located in the middle of the wood factory. At the time of the explosion, there were more than 100 workers working in the wood factory. The temperature of the furnace to press the wood is over 1000 degrees Celsius.

Doctor Nguyen Van Hung, Trauma and Burn Specialist, 115 General Hospital said: Of the 7 patients, 3 were severely burned on the face, head, back, arms and legs. The patients were in a state of shock due to gas burns and severe heat burns. The hospital performed initial first aid such as preventing shock and shock, using strong painkillers, intravenous fluids, medication and bandaging the burns, minimizing injuries caused by burns.
