Dak Lak Provincial Police confirmed that the explosion at the provincial police headquarters on the evening of December 12 was an accident, not terrorism or sabotage. The explosion killed three officers and soldiers.

On the morning of December 13, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and Dak Lak Provincial Police held a press conference to provide preliminary information about the explosion that occurred at the Dak Lak Provincial Police headquarters on the evening of December 12.

Attending the press conference were representatives of departments under the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the Board of Directors of Dak Lak Provincial General Hospital and many reporters from news agencies.

The press conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee. On the side of the Provincial Police, there were Colonel Pham Minh Thang - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Police, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tuan - Chief of Staff of Dak Lak Provincial Police.

At the press conference, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tuan said the explosion occurred at the Evidence Storage Room of the Investigation Security Agency, Dak Lak Provincial Police.

Lieutenant Colonel Tuan affirmed: "This was an unexpected accident, not terrorism or sabotage. There were 6 victims. All 6 were provincial police officers. Of them, 3 officers and soldiers died. Some surrounding houses were damaged."

After the accident, the provincial police organized the emergency treatment of the injured, organized the investigation of the scene, and protected the scene. Up to now, the investigation agency is continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion.

When reporters asked whether this explosion would cause any consequences or affect the files of related cases, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - who chaired the press conference, requested not to provide specific details because the focus is currently on rescuing the victims and handling the investigation scene.

Reporters also asked whether the officers and soldiers were only on duty at the time of the incident or were they doing specific work? Why were so many soldiers injured? However, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requested not to answer and ended the press conference.

Speaking to the press after the press conference, Chief of Office of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Bui Hong Quy informed that among the deceased officials was Y Quyet BKrong, born in 1987, an officer of the Environmental Police Department, the son of Mr. Nie Thuat - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee.

Mr. Quy also added that right after the accident, the Prime Minister also called Dak Lak province to visit and encourage.

At the same time, the Prime Minister requested the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee and Dak Lak Police to focus on directing the investigation into the cause of the incident and focus on rescuing and supporting those who suffered losses.

Regarding whether deceased officers and soldiers are entitled to martyr benefits, Chief of Office of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Bui Hong Quy said that this matter will be considered and resolved according to the procedures of state agencies and policies.

- Dang Ky Hung - Environmental Police
