Taxi driver's throat slashed in front of stadium: The perpetrator left evidence in the car

Police seized items suspected to belong to the suspect inside the taxi, including a sharp knife and a pair of green slippers.

On the morning of February 1, the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that the unit had directed the Criminal Police Department of Hanoi City Police and requested the police of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri provinces... to coordinate, urgently investigate and arrest the killer of the taxi driver.

According to the initial investigation, at around 7:00 p.m. on January 29, Mr. Pham Van Duy (born in 1993), residing in Quang Tien commune (Soc Son, Hanoi), a taxi driver of Linh Anh taxi company, transported a male subject from My Dinh bus station to gate 2 - My Dinh stadium.

At this time, the male driver had his neck cut by the above subject with a sharp knife. Mr. Duy opened the car door and ran towards gate number 2 for about 10 meters before falling and dying.

At the scene, the police seized inside the taxi the following items suspected to belong to the suspect: 1 sharp knife, the green plastic handle of the knife still stained with blood; 1 pair of green and black Fruit Knife slippers.

In addition, the hard drive on the taxi driver's dash cam, which contained audio and voice of the perpetrator, was confiscated.

The suspect image extracted from the camera is a young man about 20-25 years old, thin, about 1m63 - 1m68 tall, wearing a black jacket, black pants, green slippers and speaking with a Central accent. The weapon used was a stainless steel fruit knife.

At the victim's funeral, which just took place, Ms. Lan, the aunt of driver Duy, shared with reporters: "After the family received news of the accident, everyone panicked and rented a car to go to Hanoi. At 3 a.m. on January 30, the police handed over the body to the family to take back to their hometown for burial."

Ms. Lan added that the suspicious point was that after handing over the male driver's body to his family, the police said that all of Duy's property was still there; his watch, wallet, and phone were all intact.

Many other relatives also said that Mr. Duy is a gentle person and has no grudge against anyone. This male driver has a 1-year-old daughter and a baby about to be born. Even though it is the 24th of Tet, he still tries to drive to earn more money for his wife to buy Tet.
