Massacre of 6 people in Binh Phuoc: Investigation conclusion has been reached

With the completion of the investigation into the serious murder case of 6 people in a family, Binh Phuoc Provincial Police have clarified the actions of each suspect.

On the morning of October 10, the People's Procuracy of Binh Phuoc province announced that the Investigation Police Department of Binh Phuoc province has just completed the investigation conclusion and transferred the case file to the People's Procuracy of the same level to propose prosecuting three suspects in the massacre of 6 people in the family of Mr. Le Van My (47 years old) in Minh Hung commune, Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province.

Revenge for being blocked in love

The case once shocked public opinion because of the brutal actions of Nguyen Hai Duong (24 years old, from An Giang, temporarily residing in Hoc Mon district) and his accomplices. The police identified Duong as the mastermind, and Duong's active assistant was Vu Van Tien (24 years old, from Binh Phuoc, temporarily residing in Hoc Mon district).

The accomplice was Tran Dinh Thoai (27 years old, from An Giang, temporarily residing in Go Vap District), but the crime failed due to objective factors beyond the defendant’s control. All three were prosecuted for “murder” and “robbery”.

According to the investigation, at a party in Binh Duong in October 2014, Duong met Le Thi Anh Linh (22 years old, Mr. My's daughter). After that, the two developed feelings for each other. During the time Linh was studying in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong, the two often visited each other. Occasionally, Duong visited Linh's house in Binh Phuoc and stayed there.

In early 2015, Linh told her family that she had been introduced to another man and asked to break up with Duong. At first, Duong accepted and also had a new love. However, because he still had feelings for Linh, Duong repeatedly sought out his ex-lover to try to get back together, but Linh did not agree.

Thinking that Linh's family, specifically her mother, Nguyen Le Thi Anh Nga (42 years old), was preventing their relationship, Duong harbored the intention of revenge. To prepare for the plan, Duong bought many weapons such as switchblades, pellet guns, electric guns, zip ties, gloves, etc. In order to understand the terrain inside the house, Duong repeatedly gave money to the person living in Mr. My's house, Du Minh Vy (14 years old), to leave the door open for Duong to enter the villa to observe.

In early July 2015, after outlining the plan, Duong invited Thoai to carry it out. Duong gave the reason that Mr. My's family owed him money but did not pay, so he invited Thoai to kill someone to collect the money. Thoai agreed and bought a knife to prepare.

In the early morning of July 5, Duong and Thoai went to Mr. My's villa with weapons, but because Vy did not open the door, they could not enter the house. They had to return home.

Crime in the night

Not giving up, Duong continued to invite Thoai to join again but Thoai refused. On the morning of July 6, Duong invited another friend, Tien. Duong said that if the incident was successful, he would share the recovered money with Tien. Since he was in a difficult situation, Tien agreed to join.

That night, to create an alibi, Duong invited some friends in Hoc Mon district to go drinking and when he returned, he intentionally left the camera in the wood workshop recording. But then Duong sneaked out with Tien to Binh Phuoc.

When arriving at Mr. My's villa, Duong called Vy's nephew and told him to give him money and two chickens. When the child opened the gate, Tien captured Vy and let Duong kill him. Too scared, Tien demanded to go home but Duong did not let him. Then the two climbed up to the first floor balcony, entered the bedroom, and tied up Linh and Mr. My's niece, Du Thi To Nhu (18 years old).

Next, the two men sneaked into the bedroom of Mr. My and his wife and restrained them and their son, Le Quoc Anh (15 years old). Unable to find out where the money was hidden, Duong and Tien killed all three people. Then they returned to the bedroom and killed the two girls, Linh and Nhu.

The lucky survivor of this case was an 18-month-old girl, the youngest child of Mr. My and his wife. Before escaping from the villa, hearing the girl crying, Duong tried twice to calm her down and put her back on the bed.

It is worth mentioning that after committing the horrific crime, on the day of the funeral of Mr. My's family, Duong still came to pay his condolences. The police have taken statements from this suspect and many others but have not yet had any results. On the afternoon of July 7, when returning to Ho Chi Minh City from Binh Phuoc, Duong bought sleeping pills and attempted suicide but failed.

After 3 days of committing the crime, on the afternoon of July 10, the police agency executed an arrest warrant for Duong after consolidating evidence. Duong's accomplice Tien was also arrested that same night. During the process of expanding the investigation of the case, based on Duong's testimony, the police also arrested Thoai.

The horrific murder case that once caused a stir in public opinion nationwide has completed its investigation and is expected to be brought to trial in the near future.
