(Baonghean.vn) - In the case of the primary forest encroachment in Pu Mat National Park, the report of Pu Mat National Park suspected that it was due to the subjects cutting down the forest trees to collect orchids.

In document No. 279/BC-VQG dated July 31, 2019 of Pu Mat National Park sent to the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies to report on the situation of illegal forest exploitation in Mon Son commune (Con Cuong), this agency suspected that the primary forest was encroached upon by people cutting down trees to collect orchids.

Specifically, document No. 279 stated that of the 99 felled trees, 3 were sawn into 54 slabs; the remaining 96 trees were scattered at the scene of 5 sub-areas 833, 836A, 825, 832, 834.

According to information gathered from the people, 54 pieces of Do wood were harvested a long time ago (with signs of dryness and rot), and were recently gathered in one place to wait for the rain and flood to transport through Khe Tang to Khe Khang.

The remaining 96 trees were mainly cut down by residents of Bung and Co Phat villages to harvest orchids. Most of the wood is still at the site. The cutting time was from late May to June 2019.
