Dirty gasoline case: Need to clarify a driver's violation

(Baonghean.vn) - In the case involving dirty gasoline, violations were not only committed by businesses, but also by a driver.

The driver involved in the business of buying and selling poor quality gasoline is named Tran Thanh Hien, residing in Nghi Thinh commune, Nghi Loc district.

According to an officer participating in Project 917X, Tran Thanh Hien drove a Sitec car with license plate 37C - 172.67; the authorities stopped the vehicle for inspection in Cua Lo Town. At the time of the inspection (at 4:40 p.m. on October 11, 2017), the tank of the car driven by Mr. Hien contained A92 gasoline.

The authorities then took a sample of A92 gasoline from Tran Thanh Hien's car and requested it to be assessed at the Quality Measurement Technical Center 2. According to test result form No. 1084.4 - K5/5442-HC2 dated October 18, 2017, this A92 gasoline sample was of very poor quality, with an Octane index of only 44.9/92.

On the afternoon of October 24, 2017, Tran Thanh Hien was invited by the Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology to work. After hearing the announcement of the appraisal results, Tran Thanh Hien accepted the appraisal results and did not request a test of the control sample.

It is worth mentioning that, right at the working session with the Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology, Tran Thanh Hien said that at the time the authorities checked and took gasoline samples, he used the company's car for personal use. Regarding the amount of A92 gasoline in the car, about 5,000 liters, he bought it for 20 million VND. The person who sold gasoline to Hien was also a gasoline truck driver, operating on National Highway 1A, through the Nam Cam Industrial Park.

“This was the first time I bought gasoline, with the intention of reselling it to make a little profit. I had no idea it was low-quality gasoline…” - Tran Thanh Hien said.

It is known that Mr. Tran Thanh Hien is a driver for Toan Cau Petroleum Trading Joint Stock Company, a petroleum trading unit, located in Nghi Quang commune, Nghi Loc.
