"With Europe in crisis and life for Britons even harder in the post-Brexit era, the monarchy could become too burdensome and King Charles III could become the last British monarch," Myagkov said. "If the economic situation worsens, including rising energy prices, Britons may ask themselves: 'Why should we spend hundreds of millions of pounds on a noble family that has no useful role in running the country?'"
Mr Myagkov said that discussions about the need to maintain the reign of the country only took place formally while Queen Elizabeth II was alive. However, Mr Myagkov asserted that the Queen had become a symbol of the nation, emphasizing that her 70-year reign was a symbol of the stability of the United Kingdom.
