Just returned from rehab and became a drug dealer
(Baonghean.vn) - Having just returned from a compulsory drug rehabilitation facility and having been in prison, Tri continued to go to a mountainous district to buy drugs to retail to customers and chose the temple area to sell his "goods".
On July 28, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Bui Van Tri (born 1994), residing in Vien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district (Nghe An province) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
Tri is a drug addict. In April 2017, Tri was sentenced to 18 months in prison for “Illegal possession of drugs”. Shortly after his release from prison, Tri was sent back to a rehabilitation facility.compulsory drug rehabilitation18 months for illegal drug use. Tri finished serving his sentence in October 2020.

Not long after returning from rehab, Tri started selling drugs again. According to the case file, on the afternoon of February 15, 2021, Tri went to the mountainous district of Ky Son to buy more than 393 grams of drugs from a man for 76 million VND.
On the evening of February 16, Tri received a phone call from a customer ordering 10 packages of pink heroin. Tri offered 60 million VND and set a time and place for delivery.
Late that night, Tri rode his motorbike to the Co Am Pagoda area in Minh Chau Commune, Dien Chau District to sell drugs to customers, but was discovered and caught red-handed by a working group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Nghe An Police. During an urgent search of Tri's residence, the police seized 10 more packages of drugs.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to buying drugs to resell for profit. The defendant stated that he did this out of greed, even though he had previously been imprisoned for drug-related crimes.
Considering the defendant's behavior as dangerous to society, the People's Court sentenced defendant Bui Van Tri to 20 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
