'King of Comedy' Xuan Hinh asks for early retirement
The actor wants to spend more time taking care of his family and children at the age of 57.
On the afternoon of May 22, Hanoi Cheo Theater launched the Hanoi Saturday Night program series. The program includes ancient and modern Cheo plays, along with famous excerpts, and features many familiar stage faces.
The list of artists lacks Xuan Hinh - one of the veteran members of the Hanoi Cheo Theater. People's Artist Thuy Mui - theater director - said: "Xuan Hinh has submitted an application to the management agency for early retirement and it is being reviewed. He is unlikely to participate in acting with his colleagues this time. However, if in the future, Hinh still loves Cheo roles, we will always welcome him."

Meritorious Artist Xuan Hinh confirmed that he has submitted his retirement application. The actor said that he has devoted himself for more than 40 years and now needs time to take care of his family and recuperate in his old age. "At this age, if I perform a lot, my wife and children will be sad. Now that the old bamboo has grown, new shoots will grow, so don't worry. I also support the State's staff reduction, so asking to retire two or three years early is not a problem," he confided.
