Just out of prison and already dealing drugs, man sentenced to 20 years in prison

On November 8, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Duong Dinh Minh (born in 1996, residing in Thach Khe commune, Thach Ha, Ha Tinh) for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, in 2020, Duong Dinh Minh was sentenced to 15 months in prison by the People's Court of Ha Tinh City for "Illegal possession of narcotics". On February 26, 2021, Minhout of prison.
Nearly 2 months later, in Con Cuong district, Duong Dinh Minh was arrested by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department with 6 bags of pink pills (weighing more than 121 grams) while traveling by bus from Tuong Duong to Ha Tinh.

According to Minh's statement, while serving his sentence at Xuan Ha Prison - Ministry of Public Security (located in Ha Tinh), he met Luong Van Thuc (born in 1995), residing in Xa Luong Commune, Tuong Duong District. Thuc told Minh that his father, Luong Van May, had drugs to sell and gave Minh May's phone number to contact to buy drugs at a cheap price.
Around March 2021, Minh contacted Mr. May via the phone number Thuc gave him to discuss buying drugs. On April 23, Mr. May sold Minh 6 bags of pink pills for 30 million VND. On the morning of April 24, Minh hid the drugs under the seat of the bus to go home and was arrested by the police.
During the investigation and confrontation, both Luong Van Thuc and Luong Van May did not admit to being involved in the drugs that Minh bought and sold. Thuc said that he gave Minh his father's phone number to ask his fellow inmates to contact him after they were released from prison to ask about his health. Luong Van May's phone also did not show any contact with Minh.
At the trial, Duong Dinh Minh confessed that he bought the 30 million VND worth of drugs to sell for profit. The defendant hoped to receive leniency from the law.
The panel of judges determined that Duong Dinh Minh's actions violated the State's monopoly on drug trading, causing instability in security and order... Duong Dinh Minh had just been released from prison for 2 months and had not had his criminal record cleared, so the defendant's crime was considered a dangerous recidivism.
Considering the entire case, aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Duong Dinh Minh to 20 years in prison.
