Los Angeles police confirmed that Terry Bryant, 47, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. for burglary. He was released on $20,000 bail and will appear in court later.

The incident was discovered by a photographer. He was sure that Bryant was not one of the winners, so he followed Bryant and "stole" the Oscar statuette.He then reported the incident to Governors Hall security to detain Bryant and hand him over to the authorities.

Police also viewed the clip that Bryant himself posted on his personal Facebook.

The statuette has been returned to its owner. "Frances and Oscar are very happy to be together again," a representative for the actress told USA Today.

According to Los Angeles police, Bryant was a ticket taker at Governor's Hall where the official post-awards dinner was held. Frances carefully taped her name to the statue to avoid confusion before attending the party with her colleagues.
