Celebrating the traditional Bunpimay New Year with Lao students studying in Vietnam.

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of April 13th, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, in coordination with Vinh Medical University, organized the traditional Bunpimay New Year celebration for Lao students studying at universities and colleges in the province. Mr. Thai Van Hang, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of the province, along with representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Union of Friendship Associations, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, representatives from various departments and organizations, and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

On the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao ethnic groups, provincial leaders and representatives from various departments, agencies, and organizations extended New Year greetings to the Lao people in general and to Lao students studying in the province in particular. Attending the ceremony, the Lao students studying far from home experienced a truly warm and meaningful New Year celebration, with traditional Bunpimay rituals such as: the blessing ceremony, the water splashing custom, wrist-tying, the Lam Vong dance, and other unique cultural performances…

Scholarships are awarded to students with excellent academic achievements.

Currently, Vinh Medical University has 50 Lao students studying there. This is the fifth year the university has organized the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration for Lao students. Through cultural and artistic exchange activities, young people have the opportunity to learn about and share the rich cultural traditions of both countries; at the same time, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the people and young generations of the two countries. On this occasion, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations awarded 10 scholarships to Lao students with high academic achievements and good conduct.
