Mr. Ho Ba Re, a resident of Muong Long 2 village, said: His family grows dozens of plum trees, and annually harvests tons of fruit, earning nearly 20 million VND. At the beginning of the season, plum prices sometimes reached 25,000 VND/kg, and after the plums ripened, the price dropped to 15,000 VND/kg, but customers still ordered a lot. "Now it's June, in the middle of the season, but traders have not come to buy anymore. They said that due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it is very difficult to transport, so the villagers lowered the price to 10,000 VND/kg but still could not sell" - Mr. Re sadly said.

Along with Ho Ba Re's family, dozens of households in Muong Long 1 and Muong Long 2 villages are also extremely worried because the plum season is in full swing but they cannot sell their fruit. People said that partly because there are no buyers, partly because of heavy rain, many trees have lost fruit, causing significant damage.

“The commune currently has dozens of tons of plums that need to be consumed. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, people have lowered prices to the lowest level of 10-12 thousand VND/kg but it is still difficult to sell. In that situation, the Commune Farmers' Association has issued a document calling on organizations and individuals to support people in consuming plums.”
