The French coach wants to see out his contract, but respects the leadership's decision in all situations.

"I want to hear from the leadership about my work," Arsene Wenger told the BBC after Arsenal's annual general meeting. "That's the basis for determining whether we are on the right track. My desire is to respect and fulfil the contract, but I can't say anything in advance."

The French coach signed a two-year contract extension with Arsenal in the summer of 2017. He is in his 21st year with the club, the longest of any coach currently competing in the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger just signed a two-year contract with Arsenal in the summer of 2017.

"My desire and commitment are always greater than anything else," Wenger said. "I ask myself a lot of questions and look back at what I have done every year. Don't think I don't know what's going on. Like anyone else, I value style of play, trophies and winning every game."

At the end of the 2016-2017 season, many Arsenal fans protested and demanded that the team sack Wenger. The Emirates team has not won the Premier League since the 2003-2004 season. For 13 years, the championship has been rotated between three teams: Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City. Arsenal had to be satisfied with three FA Cups in the last four seasons.

This makes the 68-year-old strategist ponder. He confided: "I spend 99% of my life trying to make people around me happy. Looking at today, it's really not easy. However, I will love this club forever, no matter what happens."

Wenger also believes in the scientific approach of CEO Ivan Gazidis, who advocates not spending more than necessary. "Winning titles does not mean putting the team at risk or in financial difficulty. We have to do better than our opponents in all areas, not just on the pitch," he said.
