WHO to establish new expert group to study origins of COVID-19
The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it will establish a group of experts to research the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and other dangerous diseases.
According to WHO, this group of experts will be tasked with independently assessing all scientific findings from global studies on the origins ofSARS-CoV-2 virusand other diseases.
In addition, experts will advise WHO leaders on the direction of further global research plans on the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

WHO emphasized that the establishment of this expert group is due to the need to promptly assess the risks of dangerous disease outbreaks around the world.
The emergence and rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 and its variants underscores the importance of being well prepared to deal with the potential for similar outbreaks in the future.
The World Health Organization said the expert group includes virologists, epidemiologists, bacteriologists... The group is expected to hold its first meeting in late September or early October./.
