World Cup 2018 has extremely huge prize money

The 2018 World Cup was held in Russia with an unprecedented total prize money of up to 400 million USD.

After the group stage, the top and second-placed teams in each group will pocket $8 million. After the knockout round, the eight eliminated teams will leave with $12 million in prize money ($3 million more than the 2014 World Cup).

The remaining teams will advance to the quarter-finals. If they fail, each team will leave with a total prize money of 16 million USD, 2 million USD higher than the 2014 World Cup. In the semi-finals, the prize money will be divided according to the performance of the four strongest teams in the World Cup.

For the pair that will enter the third-place match after being eliminated from the semi-finals, FIFA has also favored this year with a prize money of up to 46 million USD, 4 million USD higher than the previous World Cup. Specifically, the third-place team at the 2018 World Cup will receive 24 million USD, while the fourth-place team will receive 22 million USD.

The losing team in the final will receive $28 million, $3 million more.

If the German tank successfully defends the championship, in addition to the bonus of 38 million USD, the whole team will receive an additional 8 million euros from the German Football Federation.

FIFA's calculation does not mean that any team that leaves the World Cup in the group stage will return empty-handed. With a total prize money of up to 400 million USD this year, the 2018 World Cup has a total prize money 42 million USD higher than the previous tournament. The 2014 World Cup held in Brazil had a prize money of 358 million USD.

The amount of money does not stop there, the teams competing in this year's World Cup are also given their own bonuses by their countries to create "doping" for their national teams.

Specifically, if defending champion Germany successfully defends the World Cup, they will receive 8 million euros, equivalent to each member of the "German tank" pocketing 350,000 euros.

Although this year's England team is not highly rated for the championship, if Harry Kane and his teammates repeat the feat of the "Three Lions" in 1966, the whole team will receive a total bonus of 5 million pounds.

As for the Brazilian team, after the disastrous defeat four years ago, if they win this year, Neymar and his teammates will each receive 800,000 euros.
