In the border commune of Nam Can, despite the large number of voters, the vast and fragmented geographical area, and the rugged terrain, preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term are being carried out seriously and meticulously. Besides this familiar propaganda channel, recently, people in the commune have developed the habit of accessing the fanpages of the Nam Can Commune Fatherland Front Committee, Nam Can Commune Information, etc., to update on election content and learn about candidate election information.
Previously, billboards and posters were mainly displayed along roadsides, but now they appear daily on phones, in Zalo and Facebook groups, and so on.
For nearly a month now, in preparation for the election, Lau Ba Chu, the village head of Truong Son village, electoral unit number 2 in the commune, has been personally visiting households to assess the situation of people working away from home and accurately compile voter turnout figures. In some cases, he has encouraged those working independently to stay and fulfill their civic duty.
Previously, after celebrating Tet and the Lantern Festival in the first lunar month, people would usually go to the South or to industrial zones in the North to work. But now, after being informed and encouraged, many have voluntarily stayed to await the national holiday.

Due to its unique characteristics, preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in the border commune of Nam Can were carried out earlier than in many other localities. Voters cast their ballots not only within the commune but also included officers and soldiers from the Border Guard Post and the Nam Can International Border Gate.
Approximately three weeks before election day, at the commune headquarters and 16 polling stations, the list of 5,596 voters was reviewed and publicly posted. Along the roads leading to the commune and in the villages, flags, flowers, and election slogans were brightly decorated, welcoming a major event held only once every five years.
Plans to ensure security, social order, and health before, during, and after the election day have been meticulously prepared. Commune police and military forces are coordinating to increase patrols and monitor the situation. Plans for preventing and handling any unforeseen situations have been thoroughly developed.
Specifically, to help the people better understand the candidates, the consultation process in Nam Can commune was conducted in three rounds, ensuring the structure, composition, and number of candidates complied with regulations. After the third round of consultation, the list of candidates was compiled publicly and democratically.
