(Baonghean) - Dien My commune is one of four units in Dien Chau district that were honored to receive the Excellent Emulation Flag from the Provincial People's Committee in 2014. This is a great honor and source of pride for the locality to continue striving towards the goal of prosperity and strength.

Dien My is a predominantly agricultural commune located in the northeastern part of Dien Chau district, approximately 15 km from the district center. The commune has a natural area of ​​484.45 hectares and a population of 6,354 people, comprising 1,627 households distributed across 14 hamlets. Favorable natural conditions, including the Dinh Market commercial area, facilitate economic development and trade with neighboring areas and other districts and provinces. The people of Dien My are dynamic, hardworking, and creative, always valuing solidarity; these factors have helped Dien My become a relatively prosperous commune and an outstanding unit of Dien Chau district.

Comrade Hoang Ngoc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien My commune, said: To achieve the targets of the past term (2010 - 2015), the locality paid special attention to the issue of economic restructuring and brought about effective results. The commune completed the land consolidation and exchange project according to Directive 08 of the Provincial Party Committee, in conjunction with promoting the implementation of the National Target Program for building new rural areas; currently, each household only has 1-2 plots of land, and the internal field transportation and irrigation systems have been upgraded and concreted, creating conditions for agricultural development. Trading activities at Dinh Market Commercial Center are increasingly bustling, the number of commercial households has increased, and goods are diverse to meet the consumption needs of the people in the region. The total production value in 2014 reached 150,300.3 million VND, an increase of 16.5 billion VND compared to 2013; the economic growth rate reached 12.3%. Average per capita income reached 23 million VND/person/year, meeting the set target. Agricultural production value reached 48,970.5 million VND, accounting for 32.6% of total income, an increase of 14.6% compared to 2013. Trade and service value reached 44,129 million VND, accounting for 29.4% of total income, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2013. Dien My commune has consistently leveraged its internal strengths and potential, investing in the comprehensive development of infrastructure: electricity, roads, schools, and health stations are all well-maintained; rural transportation is basically complete; the entire commune has 70 main village roads with a total length of 16.386 km, including 9 asphalt roads totaling 1.62 km and 54 concrete roads totaling 18.83 km, ensuring convenient travel for people and vehicles. The total length of irrigation canals in the commune is 56.781 km, of which 13.526 km have been reinforced to serve irrigating 340 hectares of cultivated land. The commune's People's Committee headquarters and kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools are well-built; the landscape is beautified and equipped with facilities that meet operational requirements; the market has been invested in and upgraded into a commercial area, a typical breakthrough in the local socio-economic development strategy. The people's living standards have improved, culture and society have developed, and national defense and security have been maintained. The appearance of the new rural areas is becoming increasingly vibrant. By the end of 2014, Dien My commune had achieved the status of a new rural area.

Socio-cultural aspects are always given attention. The commune has achieved universal secondary education, universal primary education for children of the correct age, and universal preschool education for 5-year-olds. The secondary school graduation rate is nearly 100%; the number of students entering high school annually reaches nearly 70%. From 2010-2015, 200 students from the commune passed university entrance exams, and nearly 50 passed college entrance exams. All three schools maintain national standards and are recognized as cultural units, with the primary school achieving national standard level 2. The socialization of education is prioritized, contributing to building a healthy educational environment. The commune has been awarded the title of advanced commune in education for four consecutive years. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas" has been widely developed. Villages and cultural units have been recognized for maintaining and promoting their achievements.

The implementation of cultural practices in weddings and funerals, in accordance with local customs and traditions, is increasingly being promoted and expanded. In 2014, 1,346 out of 1,682 families achieved the status of "Cultural Family". To date, all 14 hamlets have cultural centers and sports grounds that have been renovated and upgraded; 10 out of 14 hamlets have been recognized as "Cultural Villages". The work of showing gratitude and implementing social policies is always emphasized. The one-stop service for receiving and returning results has become more organized, with administrative procedures publicly posted as required. Primary healthcare for the people has seen many positive changes. The health station's facilities are increasingly strengthened, and equipment and tools are being added to meet the needs of the people for examination and treatment; it consistently implements national health programs, expanded immunization programs, and primary healthcare for the people. Population and family planning work has been carried out effectively, with many villages maintaining and promoting the movement of not having a third child or more. National defense and security are stable, with no complex incidents occurring.

During the 2015-2020 term, the Party Committee, government, and people of Dien My district identified the need to further promote economic development, prioritizing the development of agriculture towards commodity production; expanding services, boosting labor export; and developing small-scale industries... Striving to achieve an average per capita income of 46-48 million VND/year by 2020.

Building upon its achievements as a model new rural commune, a top-performing unit of Dien Chau district, and especially receiving the Excellent Emulation Flag from the Provincial People's Committee, this continuous joy creates great motivation for the Party Committee, government, and people of Dien My commune to continue to unite, innovate, and further promote the fine traditions of working together to build a stronger and more prosperous Dien My homeland.
