Dien My is a purely agricultural commune located in the Northeast of Dien Chau district, about 15 km from the district center. The commune has a natural area of ​​484.45 hectares, a population of 6,354 people, with a total of 1,627 households, distributed in 14 hamlets. Comrade Hoang Ngoc, Chairman of Dien My Commune People's Committee said: To achieve the targets of the past term (2010 - 2015), the locality paid special attention to the issue of economic restructuring and efficiency. The commune completed the land consolidation and plot exchange project according to Directive 08 of the Provincial Party Committee in conjunction with promoting the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction; currently, each household has only 1 - 2 plots, the traffic and irrigation systems within the fields have been renovated and concreted to create conditions for agricultural development. Trading activities at Dinh Market Commercial Center are increasingly bustling, the number of commercial households has increased, and goods are diversified to meet the consumption needs of people in the area. The total production value in 2014 reached 150,300.3 million VND, an increase of 16.5 billion VND compared to 2013; the economic growth rate reached 12.3%; Average income per capita reached 23 million VND/person/year, meeting the set plan. Agricultural production value reached 48,970.5 million VND, accounting for 32.6% of total income, up 14.6% compared to 2013. Dien My always promotes its internal strength and potential, thereby paying attention to investing in the synchronous construction of infrastructure systems: electricity, roads, schools, and stations are all spacious; rural traffic is basically complete; the whole commune has 70 village roads with a total length of 16.386 km, including 9 asphalt roads with a length of 1.62 km, 54 concrete roads with a length of 18.83 km, ensuring convenient travel for people and vehicles. The total length of irrigation canals in the commune is 56.781 km, of which 13.526 km have been solidified to serve irrigation of 340 hectares of cultivated land. Culture and society are always concerned. The commune has met the standards of universal lower secondary education, universal primary education at the right age and universal preschool education for 5-year-old children. The secondary school graduation rate is nearly 100%; the number of students entering high school each year is nearly 70%. From 2010 to 2015, the whole commune had 200 students passing the university entrance exam, nearly 50 students passing the college entrance exam. All 3 schools have maintained national standards and cultural units, of which the primary school has met the national standards at level 2. Socialization of education has been paid attention to, contributing to building a healthy educational environment. The commune has been awarded the title of advanced commune in education for 4 consecutive years. In 2014, 1,346/1,682 families achieved the title of cultural family. Up to now, 14/14 hamlets have cultural houses and sports grounds that have been renovated and upgraded; 10/14 hamlets have been recognized as Cultural Villages. The activities of the department receiving and returning results under the one-stop mechanism have been put into order, and administrative procedures have been publicly posted according to regulations. Primary health care for the people has had many positive changes. The activities of the health station have been increasingly strengthened in terms of facilities and supplemented with equipment and tools to meet the requirements of serving the needs of medical examination and treatment for the people; always well implementing national health programs, expanded vaccination, and primary health care for the people.
