With an area of ​​30.20 km² and a population of over 46,000 people, Dong Thanh Commune Party Committee has 1,188 party members operating in 64 affiliated party cells. During the 2020 - 2025 term, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of Dong Thanh commune have exceeded the targets set out in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress. The economic structure has shifted in a positive direction: agriculture has shifted strongly to commodity production, applying high technology; industry and handicrafts have expanded; services and trade have developed in a diverse manner, making an important contribution to the budget revenue and creating jobs for local workers.

One of the highlights of the past term was the movement to build new rural areas and advanced new rural areas. Dong Thanh commune mobilized over 1,215 billion VND to invest in rural infrastructure such as transportation, irrigation, schools, and medical stations. Notably, Tho Thanh commune (old) achieved advanced new rural standards in 2022, and Phu Thanh (merged from old Phu Thanh and Hong Thanh in the previous period) was recognized as meeting the standards in 2023. The commune also pays special attention to the fields of health, education and social security. The rate of people participating in health insurance reaches 91%. The quality of education is maintained in the leading group. Social policies, sustainable poverty reduction, care for people with meritorious services and poor households are effectively implemented. Political security and social order and safety are maintained. The movement "All people protect national security" is promoted, the militia and regular police force are increasingly strong, completing assigned tasks well.

In particular, the work of building the Party and the political system has received comprehensive attention. The organizational apparatus has been streamlined and operated effectively. The government has operated effectively and efficiently, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations have made many innovations in their methods of operation, increasingly closer to the people, closer to the people and for the people.

Promoting the achievements, entering the 2025-2030 term, the Party Committee of Dong Thanh commune clearly identified the direction and key tasks of promoting the breakthrough: "Mobilizing and effectively using resources to invest in infrastructure, creating a foundation to promote sustainable development". Accordingly, the commune set specific targets: total product value growth rate of 11-12%/year; average income per capita of 120-140 million VND/year; state budget revenue in the area of ​​about 106-107 billion VND/year; 100% of commune roads are hardened; striving to meet advanced new rural standards by 2027 and modern new rural standards by 2030; having at least 06 OCOP products with 3 stars or more.

Accordingly, Dong Thanh commune set specific targets: average annual growth rate of total product value reaching 11-12%; average income per capita from 120-140 million VND/year; state budget revenue in the area reaching 106-107 billion VND/year; 100% of commune roads are paved; building and developing at least 6 OCOP products meeting 3-star standards or higher. These targets not only demonstrate the high political determination of the Party Committee, government and people of the commune, but also a commitment for a strong breakthrough in Dong Thanh in the new term.
