The attack took place in the Belgian city of Liege on May 29. Catherine Collignon, a spokeswoman for the Liege prosecutor's office, confirmed that two police officers and one civilian were killed and another was injured in the incident.
According to local newspaper La Libre, the attacker opened fire on police at 10:30 a.m. at the Cafe de Augustins. He then went to Waha High School and took a woman hostage.
The gunman, identified as Benjamin Hermann, born in 1985, who had a long criminal record including theft, fighting and drug trafficking, was shot dead by police about half an hour later. All students at the high school were said to be safe and under police protection.

The US President confirmed on May 29 that Washington and Pyongyang have held many meetings to prepare for a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
"We have a great team in place to talk to North Korea. Summit meetings are underway and more to come. Kim Yong Chol, Vice Chairman of North Korea, is on his way to New York. Very positive response to my letter, thank you," he tweeted on the morning of May 29.

The Israeli military said on May 29 that it intercepted 25 rockets fired by Hamas from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. At least two rockets landed in settlements in the vicinity of Gaza but caused no injuries.

The Boeing 777 carrying 239 passengers and crew went missing on March 8, 2014, just after taking off from the airport in Kuala Lumpur, bound for Beijing, China.
The first Australian-led search, considered the largest in aviation history, ended in January 2017 without finding any trace of the plane.
Under pressure from the victims' families, the Malaysian government at that time decided to hire Ocean Infinity, a private seabed exploration company in Texas, USA, and the search for MH370 resumed on January 22, 2018. According to the agreement, the company would have 90 days to search, but in reality it had to last for many months due to bad weather and the search campaign officially ended yesterday (May 29).

Japan's lower house passes bill to lower age of adulthood to 18

On May 29, the Japanese House of Representatives passed a bill to lower the age of adulthood from the current 20 years old to 18 years old, aiming to promote the participation of young people in social activities in the context of Japan's rapid aging.
This amendment to the Civil Code, along with other related laws, will change the definition of an adult, allowing 18 and 19 year olds to marry without parental consent.
According to the current Civil Code, young men aged 18 and over and young women aged 16 and over can get married. However, young people under 20 years old who want to get married need their parents' consent.
