The Russian Defense Ministry said on September 22 that detailed information about the Russian Il-20 military plane crash earlier this week will be announced by the ministry on September 23. The ministry's press release stated: "On Sunday, September 23, the Russian Defense Ministry will publish detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the crash of the Russian Aerospace Forces Il-20 plane off the coast of Syria on September 17."
According to the ministry, it will provide a minute-by-minute timeline of the tragic accident based on data from radar systems that recorded "the situation in the airspace over Syria on September 17 and the actions of the Israeli Air Force in this area".
Prime Minister Abe, President Trump will meet on September 26

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump will meet at a summit on September 26, a Japanese government spokesman said. The meeting will be held on the sidelines of Abe's trip to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga also said the two leaders will have dinner together on September 23.
On Twitter, Mr. Trump congratulated Mr. Abe on the occasion of the Japanese prime minister's re-election as president of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Mr. Abe, 63, won 553 votes, defeating former Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba with 254 votes, in the election on September 20.
UN increases sanctions for peacekeeper misconduct

On September 21, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a US-drafted resolution to strengthen sanctions against UN peacekeepers for misconduct while on duty to protect civilians. The resolution strengthens penalties, including repatriation, transfer of units and withholding of pay, for UN peacekeepers involved in misconduct.
The resolution is said to aim to improve the performance of UN peacekeeping forces as UN peacekeeping missions are facing a wave of allegations of sexual abuse and failure to protect civilians caught in violence, especially in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.
UK, EU “back down” after Summit in Austria

Faced with the pressure of the approaching Brexit, the UK and the EU have quickly “backed down” as both sides called for concessions from each other. Analysts say the UK and EU have softened their stance compared to when the two sides met at the recently concluded informal EU Summit in Austria.
According to the plan, the UK will leave the European Union on March 29, 2019. However, so far, the UK and the European Union have not reached any agreement due to disagreements on the border issue between the British territory of Northern Ireland and Ireland - a member state of the European Union and the trade issue between the two sides.

China and Germany held their second high-level security dialogue in Berlin on September 21, during which the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the security field. During the dialogue, China and Germany exchanged views on efforts to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime, as well as international and regional security issues of common concern.
The two sides stressed the importance of international cooperation and dialogue on security issues, and agreed to adhere to the principles of equality, mutual trust, sincerity and actively deepen security cooperation.

Gunmen ambushed a military parade on September 22 in the Iranian city of Ahvaz, killing at least 10 people and wounding 21 others, local media reported. According to Iran's state news agencyIRNA,Among the injured were women and children.
Gunmen first opened fire on the crowd, then fired at the parade formation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the area where officials were attending the ceremony to commemorate the Iran-Iraq war, according to the news agency.AlJazeera.

South Korean President Moon Jae In's approval rating soared last week as news of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un dominated the headlines.AFPAccording to the survey results of research company Gallup Korea released on September 21.
Earlier this month, Moon faced his lowest approval rating since taking office, at just 49%, as the South Korean economy showed signs of weakness, including lackluster job growth and soaring real estate prices. Russia sends more S-400s to Crimea

Russia’s Black Sea Fleet said a third S-400 air defense missile system has been put into service in Crimea, after Ukraine ended its friendship treaty with Russia. “The combat team of the S-400 air defense missile system of the Air Force and the air defense group of the Southern Military District has taken up duty in the city of Yevpatoria (Crimea),” Black Sea Fleet spokesman Alexei Rulyov said on September 21, according to TASS news agency.
Two similar systems have been operational in the town of Feodosiya and the city of Sevastopol in Crimea since January 2017 and January 2018, respectively.
