Vụ việc xảy ra vào khoảng 19g30 ngày 23-7 giờ địa phương, tức 8g30 sáng nay 24-7 giờ VN tại rạp Grand Theatre ở Lafayette. RT dẫn lời kể của các nhân chứng cho biết tay súng gây án sau khi bộ phim Train Wreck chiếu được khoảng 20 phút.

"He didn't say anything. I didn't hear anyone screaming either," a witness told The Advertiser. According to this witness's description, the gunman was "an older white man."

Police said that after receiving the report, they deployed multiple teams to the scene, surrounding and searching the movie theater. However, the gunman committed suicide before they could reach him.

"When police arrived, he was unresponsive and may have been dead," Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft told reporters. He added that the situation at the movie theater was under control.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said he has contacted local police and requested a thorough investigation into the incident.
