(Baonghean.vn) - Following reports from Baonghean.vn about the indiscriminate dumping of waste into streams and ravines in Dong Tam village, the People's Committee of Thach Ngan commune has directed relevant organizations to intensify cleanup efforts and raise awareness about environmental hygiene; simultaneously, they have installed surveillance cameras to prevent the indiscriminate dumping of waste into streams and ravines.

Following the article "Alarming situation of garbage overflowing streams and creeks in Thach Ngan (Con Cuong)" published by Nghe An Newspaper on March 14th, on the following Saturday and Sunday (March 16-17), the People's Committee of the commune directed local branches and organizations to strengthen measures to maintain environmental hygiene at "hot spots" as well as in villages and hamlets.

At the same time, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan commune, Lo Thanh Huan, also said that on March 17, the commune installed surveillance cameras and two electric lights at the bridge crossing the Nam Cai stream (called Binh Oanh bridge).

The Nậm Cai stream overflow bridge, located in Đồng Tâm village, Thạch Ngàn commune, is one of ten overflow bridges on the road from National Highway 7 to the villages of Thạch Ngàn commune. It also marks the border between Thạch Ngàn commune (Con Cuông district) and Bình Sơn commune (Anh Sơn district).

Before installing the surveillance cameras, on March 14th, the People's Committee of Thach Ngan commune directed the Women's Union of Thach Ngan commune to mobilize its members, in coordination with the Youth Union and the Farmers' Association in the commune, with a focus on Dong Tam village, to clean up the environment at the Nam Cai stream bridge.

According to the leaders of Thach Ngan commune People's Committee, local associations and organizations have mobilized their members to clean up waste in streams and creeks. They also use the results of this practical action to spread the message of a clean and beautiful environment, hoping that all citizens will be aware of the importance of protecting the environment, not only in Dong Tam village but in all areas of the commune.

Along with the Women's Association, other associations and organizations such as the Youth Union and the Farmers' Association are also joining hands to promote environmental protection activities.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thach Ngan commune affirmed that installing cameras for monitoring is an effective measure to prevent irresponsible littering. If detected, the commune authorities will take measures to remind or fine offenders. It is hoped that, after these decisive measures are implemented, the littering at this bridge crossing will cease, restoring the cleanliness and freshness of the environment here.

Previously, the problem of indiscriminate littering at the bridge area had been ongoing for a long time. Local authorities and organizations in Thach Ngan commune had repeatedly educated residents about environmental protection, the harmful effects of waste on water sources and human health. This issue had also been raised and addressed in local meetings, but the problem has not been completely resolved.
