Thanh Tien Commune received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and achieved advanced new rural standards.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Provincial Military Command, Thanh Chuong district and a large number of people of Thanh Tien commune.

Thanh Tien commune is now Tien Hoi commune, belonging to Cat Ngan commune, Thanh Chuong district, Anh Son prefecture in the past. After many mergers and name changes, on March 23, 1954, the Chairman of the Administrative Resistance Committee of Nghe An province decided to establish Thanh Tien commune on the basis of separating Tam Dong commune into 3 communes: Thanh Tien, Thanh Lien and Phong Thinh.

In the 70th year since its establishment, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien have always strived to be self-reliant and self-reliant, overcoming all difficulties to rise up. Here, during the resistance war against American imperialism, the cadres and people of Thanh Tien coordinated with the military units to fight; they shot down 5 planes of American imperialism, including an F105 plane shot down on the spot, with 1 pilot burned to death and 1 pilot captured alive.

Along with fighting to protect the rear, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien also contributed resources and manpower to the southern frontline with the spirit of "not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing". During the two wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Thanh Tien commune had 1,384 outstanding children leave to defend the Fatherland; 1,536 people joined the frontline laborers; 150 youth volunteers.

The Party and State have awarded 4,200 Orders and Medals of various types to collectives and individuals. The commune was awarded the Third Class Exploit Medal, the Third Class Resistance Medal, and for four consecutive years from 1969 to 1972, the commune achieved the title of Determined to Win Unit; and was recognized as a Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Peace has been restored, together with the entire Party and people in the whole country overcoming the consequences of war and competing in production, building the homeland to develop more and more. Especially in more than 10 years of building new rural areas, with the leadership, direction, and mobilization of the entire political system and the consensus, support, and contributions of efforts and money from all classes of people, Thanh Tien's socio-economy has been constantly improved, with synchronous technical and social infrastructure, meeting the standards of advanced new rural areas. The material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly developed.

National defense and security work, Party building and the political system are taken care of. In particular, the spirit of solidarity, consensus and creative thinking among Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations and people of all walks of life are strengths, creating an environment for local development. In 2015, the commune was recognized as meeting new rural standards and in 2023, it was recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards.

The results of efforts and experience in leading and implementing political tasks through each revolutionary period over the past 70 years continue to be the foundation, luggage, and important motivation for the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tien to continue to rise up and affirm many outstanding marks in the coming time, first of all striving to build a model new rural area.
