The final of the men's 10m air pistol event took place yesterday, March 5, with the participation of eight shooters. Hoang Xuan Vinh finished third overall, after Wu Felipe Almeida of Brazil (201.9 points) and Brown Will of the US (201.4 points).
The bronze medal is not Hoang Xuan Vinh's best achievement at the ISSF World Cup. In 2013, he won a gold medal when the tournament was held in Changwon, South Korea. In 2014, for the first time, the colonel-ranked shooter was ranked number one in the men's 10m air pistol category by the International Shooting Federation (ISSF).
At the 2016 ISSF World Cup, Xuan Vinh also competed in the 50m slow-fire pistol event, but did not make it to the finals. His teammate, shooter Tran Quoc Cuong, made it to the finals but only finished sixth with 108.3 points.
Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong have both won tickets to the 2016 Rio Olympics. This duo is being heavily invested in with the hope of helping Vietnamese shooting win medals at the Olympics.
