(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 26, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review national defense and security work in 2016 and deploy tasks for 2017. Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

The summary report on the work of national defense and security in 2016 presented by Colonel Tran Van Hung - Commander of the Provincial Military Command at the conference stated: In 2016, the Party committees, authorities, departments, branches and organizations at all levels effectively implemented the work of national defense and security; the content of the work of national defense and security education for cadres, party members and people had many innovations, achieving practical results; the leadership and management capacity of the Party committees and authorities at all levels in the work of national defense and security had many changes, without sudden or unexpected incidents.

The armed forces are built strong in politics, ideology and organization, and are a reliable force of local Party committees and authorities in building an increasingly solid national defense, people's security and people's border, ensuring political security, rescue and relief to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

In addition to the achieved results, the conference also frankly pointed out the remaining shortcomings and limitations. The work of legal propaganda and education is sometimes and in some places not really effective; there are still some serious criminal cases; some cadres and party members have not been exemplary in complying with regulations; the quality and efficiency of the work of some grassroots cadres still have some shortcomings...

Regarding the 2017 tasks, we will focus on promoting the strength of the entire political system and the great national unity bloc, consolidating the national defense posture associated with people's security and strong national border defense; building a strong foundation, implementing democratic regulations well; building a strong military, police, border defense, fire prevention and fighting force, acting as the core in advising and implementing national defense and security tasks in the area.

In particular, focusing on effectively implementing the Party's directives and resolutions, the State's policies and laws, in conjunction with the directives, resolutions and projects of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee on national defense and security tasks; improving the management capacity of Party committees and authorities at all levels; proactively preventing and fighting to defeat the "peaceful evolution" and violent overthrow plots of hostile forces, especially the plots to promote "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party...

Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, comrade Le Minh Thong highly appreciated the results of the national defense and security work in 2016. Forecasting that in 2017, the world, regional and domestic situations will continue to have complicated developments, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the functional forces, in addition to well implementing the policies, resolutions, laws, ordinances... of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and ministries, departments and branches, also pay special attention to proactively preventing, detecting, fighting, stopping and defeating the plots and activities of hostile forces; stepping up propaganda work on sea and island sovereignty; focusing on raising the spirit and responsibility, effectively implementing the work of preventing and suppressing violations of the law, social evils and corruption.

In addition, strengthen State management in fire prevention and fighting; implement well social policies, military rear areas and care for people with meritorious services who are facing difficulties in life... From there, build an all-people national defense associated with an increasingly solid people's security posture.

Comrade Le Minh Thong presented the Emulation Flag of the Provincial People's Committee to collectives with outstanding achievements.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Victory Emulation Flag to 15 groups and Certificates of Merit to 15 groups and 22 individuals with many achievements in 2016.
