Yen Thanh commune was established on the basis of merging 4 administrative units of the old Yen Thanh district including Hoa Thanh, Van Thanh, Dong Thanh, and Tang Thanh communes. The commune has an area of ​​38.13 km² and a population of 47,780 people. The commune party committee has 92 subordinate party organizations with a total of 2,617 party members.

Thanks to the tradition of solidarity, shared responsibility and consensus from the Party to the people, Yen Thanh commune has quickly stabilized its organization, effectively implemented political tasks, creating new positions and strengths for the next development stage. The political system from commune to village has been consolidated and operated effectively; contributing to improving the effectiveness of management, administration and organization of task implementation.

During the 2020-2025 term, Yen Thanh has achieved many important results in many fields. The total production value of the whole commune is estimated at more than 4,663,218 million VND; the average income per capita is 75.52 million VND/year, higher than the set target. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction: From agricultural production to industrial, trade and service development. In particular, agriculture is increasingly moving towards commodities; trade and services are developing rapidly; small-scale industry is expanding, creating more jobs for people.

Yen Thanh commune identified the work of building the Party and the political system as a key task; improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization was focused on. Inspection, supervision, mass mobilization, and administrative reform were carried out seriously and effectively. The rate of people participating in health insurance reached 97.1%, the rate of malnutrition in children under 5 years old decreased to 10.5%. Yen Thanh commune effectively utilizes the potential and advantages of National Highway 7 running through the area with a length of about 6 km to promote the development of trade and services. In addition, the locality also focuses on exploiting available labor resources to serve traditional industries such as textiles and carpentry in the industrial cluster in the area. In addition, the commune promotes the planning and development of clean agriculture with a focus on building a specialized area for high-quality rice cultivation, contributing to improving the value of agricultural production and people's lives.

Accordingly, specific goals are set out clearly, with a roadmap: By 2030, the average growth rate of the commune's total product will reach 12-13%/year; average income per capita will reach 120-130 million VND/year; budget revenue will reach 350-400 billion VND; the economic structure will shift strongly to industry - services, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture. Notably, the commune strives to build 5 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, the total output of grain crops will reach over 19,100 tons, the total social investment capital will reach 4,200 billion VND... By 2028, Yen Thanh will reach the advanced new rural standards, and by 2030 it will reach the modern new rural standards according to the new set of criteria. Along with economic development, technical and social infrastructure will be focused on synchronous investment.
