Building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives.

On the afternoon of December 14th, the Central Propaganda Department, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy, organized an online conference to study the thematic topic: "Building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives according to the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh."

The conference was chaired by Comrade Vo Van Phuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Propaganda Department. At the Nghe An branch, Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, presided. Also present were: Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Thai Thanh Quy, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Nguyen Van Thong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; and representatives from the leadership of departments, agencies, districts, cities, and towns.

At the conference, delegates heard Associate Professor Bui Dinh Phong, a senior lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, introduce the theme of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style in 2019: "Building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives according to Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style"; and the Party's policies, tasks, and solutions for building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives in the current period.

The thematic content emphasizes that building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives are fundamental aspects of Ho Chi Minh's thought, creating a great impetus for the reform process, and simultaneously serving as an important and urgent solution in building the Party, the State, and the political system. Successfully implementing this theme in 2019 and subsequent years is equivalent to effectively implementing Directive 05 of the XII Politburo on "Continuing to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style" in the current period.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Xuan Son affirmed: Studying and emulating the style and conduct of President Ho Chi Minh is of great importance in building a sense of respect for the people, promoting democracy, and caring for the people's lives—a fundamental content of Ho Chi Minh's thought. It strengthens the awareness of cadres and Party members, creating a great impetus for the reform process, contributing to the building of a clean and strong Party in terms of politics, ideology, organization, and ethics, building a socialist rule of law state of the people, by the people, and for the people, and consolidating the political system in the current period.

Following this conference, Party committees at all levels, in coordination with government and mass organization leaders, will incorporate the thematic content into the regular activities of Party branches; and develop programs and plans for implementing the thematic content that are appropriate for each locality, agency, and unit.

In particular, emphasis should be placed on identifying and addressing existing shortcomings related to the topic, such as: a lack of respect for and promotion of people's rights as masters of their own destiny, and a failure to care for the people's well-being. Simultaneously, the implementation of this topic should be linked to the implementation plans of Party directives and resolutions, and the emulation movements of the sector, locality, agency, and unit.
