Hyundai Concept Three electric car paves the way for Ioniq 3 launch
Hyundai Concept Three electric car debuted at IAA Mobility, revealing the look of the Ioniq 3, a small hatchback competing with the VW ID.3 and Kia EV4.
Hyundai electric cars and the gap in the segment
In recent years, Hyundai electric vehicles have been widely distributed in Europe. In Germany, 28% of Hyundai sales in the first half of 2025 were pure electric vehicles, higher than the average of 18% for the whole market.

However, the Korean brand still lacks a small electric car to compete directly. The Concept Three is the answer, paving the way for the Ioniq 3, the electric car Hyundai is expected to fill this gap.
Concept Three - a stepping stone to the Ioniq 3
Concept Three was introduced at the IAA Mobility exhibition as a test version of the Ioniq 3. Instead of choosing an SUV design like the Kia EV3, Hyundai developed a neat hatchback similar to the Kia EV4.

With a length of 4.29 m, width of 1.94 m, height of 1.43 m and wheelbase of 2.72 m, this new Hyundai electric car is in the same segment as the Volkswagen ID.3.
The Ioniq 3 is positioned as the “electrified version” of the famous i30 line, contributing to Hyundai completing its electric vehicle product line in all segments by 2027.
Battery technology and operation
Although not officially announced, many sources say that the Hyundai Ioniq 3 electric car will use a 400V platform with two battery options of 60.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh.

The front-wheel-drive version has a maximum output of 160 kW, and an all-wheel-drive variant could appear, inspired by the Kia EV4.
Sporty looks with aerodynamic front bumper, large wheels and rear spoiler make a high-performance version of the Ioniq 3 N completely possible.

Distinctive pixel light design
The Hyundai Concept Three electric car carries the Art of Steel language with strong lines. The pixel lighting system typical of the Ioniq line is upgraded to a gradient form, creating depth and rhythm for the overall design.
The iconic character Mr. Pix was also included, helping to increase emotional engagement with users, while creating a distinct highlight compared to competitors.
Production orientation in Europe
Hyundai revealed the possibility of producing the Hyundai Ioniq 3 electric car right at the Nosovice factory (Czech Republic), where the i30 and Kona Electric are assembled.
In addition, the company is promoting the use of renewable energy in production and increasing the proportion of recycled materials in new electric vehicle models. This is an important step for Hyundai electric vehicles to become sustainable and suitable for the strict requirements of the European market.
Hyundai's Vision
Xavier Martinet, CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said that Concept Three is a major milestone for the electrification journey.
With its compact size, modern design and advanced technology, the Hyundai Ioniq 3 electric car promises to become a popular, practical choice and create a strong emotional connection with European consumers in the coming years.
