Leaf electric car with advanced technology is about to 'land' in the Southeast Asian market
At the recent Nissan Futures forum in Singapore, Nissan announced plans to launch the new Leaf electric vehicle in seven Asian and Oceania markets in the next fiscal year, aiming to operate cleaner and more efficient vehicles in the future.
Nissan will launch this new model in the following markets: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia, New Zealand. At the same time, the group is also looking for opportunities to introduce ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) models in other markets in the region such as Indonesia and the Philippines.
“The Nissan Leaf is aimed at reaching as many markets as possible. It is a symbol of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a reflection of the company’s vision for a better future,” said Yutaka Sanada, senior vice president of Nissan Asia and Oceania.
Mr. Sanada also added that Nissan is studying market demand in Indonesia and the Philippines for the plan to launch the new Nissan Leaf model in the next phase.
The new Leaf has been upgraded by Nissan in terms of engine and range, the new electric motor has a capacity of 148 horsepower and 320Nm of torque, helping to improve acceleration and driver experience. At the same time, the car is also designed for more comfort and convenience for the driver.
Since the global launch of the Leaf in 2010, Nissan has sold more than 300,000 vehicles. In September 2017, Nissan launched a completely redesigned generation of Leaf globally, incorporating advanced technologies such as the e-Pedal function.
The new generation Nissan Leaf will begin distribution and delivery in October 2017 in Japan and January 2018 in the US, Canada and Europe and will be available in more than 60 markets worldwide in the near future.
