Foldable cars like transformer robots

Inspired by Origami, Japanese researchers have created a car that can fold neatly, helping to solve the problem of lack of parking space.

According to Straitstimes on December 29, the Earth-1 electric car was inspired by Transformers - toy robots that can transform into cars or animals, then turn back to normal.

"Very small cars can be easily parked in tight spaces. We started a project to fold a car and turn it into something smaller to help save parking space," said Hiroomi Kinoshita, president and CEO of Four Link Systems.

The car was created by Kunio Okawara, a famous artist who created transforming robots for long-running TV series.Gundamin Japan, design.

Customers have already ordered 30 Earth-1s at $70,000 each.

Four Link Systems hopes to sell 300 Earth-1s a year. They also hope to get highway approval for Earth-1s by March 2018.
