Passenger bus transporting 4 white-cheeked black langurs

In the early morning of October 2, the Traffic Police Department - Thanh Hoa Provincial Police discovered and arrested a passenger bus transporting 4 white-cheeked black langurs.

Accordingly, at around 1:00 a.m. on October 2, at Km 378, National Highway 1A, through Truong Lam commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province, the Patrol Control Team led by Major Nguyen Huu Nam - Deputy Head of National Highway 1A Traffic Police Station, discovered a passenger car with license plate 73B-006.59 driven by Pham Dai Long (born in 1978, residing in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province) in the South - North direction with signs of violating the Road Traffic Law.

Langurs found on passenger bus

Immediately, the patrol team signaled the vehicle to stop for administrative inspection. Upon inspection, the team discovered a large styrofoam box on the passenger car. After that, the traffic police requested an inspection and discovered many wild animals.

These are frozen langurs sealed in plastic bags. However, the above shipment has no documents proving its origin.

The Traffic Police force has drawn up a record of the violation and requested to bring the vehicle to the Traffic Police Station to continue coordinating with the Thanh Hoa Provincial Forest Rangers to clarify the matter.

Authorities conduct inspection

According to initial identification by the authorities, the four animals contained in the above mentioned styrofoam boxes are white-cheeked black-cheeked langurs. This is a rare primate species, of scientific and aesthetic value and is classified as an endangered species in need of protection.

Currently, the authorities have detained the passenger car, evidence and related people to continue investigating.
