Car dodges toll booth, damages inter-commune road in Hoang Mai

(Baonghean.vn) - To avoid Hoang Mai toll station, many vehicles traveling on National Highway 1A through Quynh Thien ward chose to bypass Quynh Loc commune.

Hoang Mai industrial park road was also damaged because of vehicles avoiding toll collection.

Quynh Loc inter-commune road passes through hamlets 8, 9, 10 connecting National Highway 1A, the section adjacent to Hoang Mai quarry, 2 km south of Hoang Mai toll station, is the road chosen by many drivers to avoid toll stations. This road was completed in 2005, with a width of over 3m. However, recently, the traffic of vehicles avoiding toll stations here has been dense, causing the road to start showing signs of deterioration. There are 4 bridges on the route, all of which are damaged at the same time. The first bridge passing through hamlet 9 has completely lost a bridge pier, 1/3 of the road surface has collapsed. Currently, the locality has repaired 3 bridges, costing 45 million VND. Vehicles avoiding toll stations on the inter-commune route still pose potential traffic accident dangers, because there are no traffic safety signs on the route, and the density of people and students participating in daily traffic is very high.

Mr. Le Van Trinh - a resident of Hamlet 9, Quynh Loc Commune, Hoang Mai Town said: "When the damaged bridge was just repaired, many vehicles continued to run through here, not only Hoang Mai and Thanh Hoa vehicles, but also Hai Phong and Vung Tau vehicles. If this situation continues, traffic safety will not be guaranteed."

Along with the Quynh Loc inter-commune road is the Hoang Mai industrial park road, located 200 meters south of the Hoang Mai toll station, 600 meters long, connecting National Highway 1A to the Quynh Loc intersection. After only a short time, many potholes have appeared on this road section. The road surface has been plowed into many sections, with rocks exposed on the road surface. When it rains, the road becomes small stagnant pools of water, causing many difficulties for people and vehicles.

The reason why the road has been deteriorating so rapidly is because since May this year, Hoang Mai toll station officially came into operation. Many vehicles avoid the station, evade fees, and use this road with its high density and heavy load, causing the road to become damaged.

Local people made temporary barriers to prevent vehicles from passing.

Mr. Le Duy Trung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Loc Commune, Hoang Mai Town added: "According to the law, the locality is not allowed to ban vehicles passing through here, so for now we have not found a specific solution, so we have implemented a temporary solution to repair the damage to the bridge and road to ensure people's travel, and at the same time put up signs prohibiting overloaded vehicles from passing through here."
