The classic Honda CB650 LC (Luxury Custom) motorcycle is the last generation of the CB650 SOHC line, and has been hunted down by a Vietnamese motorbike enthusiast for collection.

From 1979 to 1985, Honda produced the CB650 as a smaller, cheaper version of the high-end CB750. The CB750 with SOHC engines was only produced until 1981. To end this line, Honda launched the Honda CB650 Luxury Custom (CB650LC) motorcycle version in the Japanese domestic market.

Born at the end of the SOHC engine era, the CB650LC is considered a version that fully converges the "quintessence" of previous CB650 generations, while overcoming all previous disadvantages. In addition, being in the "transition" period between the CB650 SOHC and CB650SC with DOHC engines, the vehicle also has some details similar to its later "younger brothers".

Based on the CB650 Custom version, the CB650LC also has a cruiser-style design. Like other traditional motorcycles of the same era, this version has a classic front end with a large round headlight at the front and a pair of symmetrical turn signals on both sides, with the Honda logo in the middle.

Compared to other regular Honda CB650 motorcycles, the CB650 Custom in general and the CB650LC have been upgraded with Showa front forks with longer travel, increasing the smoothness when traveling on the road. In addition, the vehicle also has a disc brake system upgraded to safer dual discs, 10.8 inch disc diameter and 2 piston calipers on each side.

Born in the early 80s, the bike's dashboard has a traditional design with a pair of mechanical speedometers and tachometers, the odometer shows the distance traveled in a window between the two clocks, along with a number of other indicator lights. The bike's fuse box is integrated into the handlebar hump, making it easier to change the fuse.

The CB650LC's fuel tank has the typical teardrop shape of a cruiser, but has been influenced by the square design of the 80s with more angular lines. This fuel tank has a capacity of 14 liters, and the bike also has an auxiliary tank with a capacity of about 3.5 liters so the rider can travel a little further to find a gas station.

Compared to the previous CB650 Custom and regular CB650, the overall design of the CB650LC is more seamless from front to back. In 1982, the CB650SC or Nighthawk 650 DOHC version sold in the US almost "copied" this design, replacing the previous CB650 Custom SOHC models.

The CB650SC’s inline 4-cylinder SOHC 2-valve engine has a real capacity of 627 cc, with each piston measuring 59.88 mm in diameter and a stroke of 55.8 mm. Despite its large capacity and many cylinders, this engine is completely air-cooled, achieving a maximum capacity of 63 horsepower and a maximum torque of 52 Nm.

At the rear, the CB650LC has a pair of twin spring shocks, partially protected by a chrome cover. The rear wheel is a 16-inch diameter, while the front wheel is a 19-inch diameter - the wheel configuration of many cruisers. The engine exhaust is routed to the rear through a 4-2-4 exhaust system, with dual mufflers placed symmetrically on each side.

The twin exhausts have become a signature of Honda's classic 4-cylinder motorcycles, while the design of the CB650LC and SC was later adopted and modified by Honda for many other models, such as the CB250 Nighthawk. Today, the CB650LC version is still sought after by many bikers around the world, as it was produced in relatively small numbers and is considered the "peak" of the CB650 SOHC generation.

In the Vietnamese market, the CB650LC has become even more "rare", especially with vehicles of legal origin and easy ownership transfer. The CB650LC in the article is rare because it is in original condition, although it is no longer as new as "unboxed" after 35 years of continuous use, its price is still around 150 million VND.
