Car is shaking, which part should be checked?
(Baonghean.vn) - Cars used for a long time will not maintain their original perfect function. And one of the most common and annoying problems is the phenomenon of the car shaking when driving on the road... If the car is shaking abnormally, check the parts below to fix this annoying problem.
1. Engine and steering problems
![]() |
One of the most common causes of car vibration is engine and steering problems. Common causes include not getting enough air (oxygen) or fuel, or a malfunctioning ignition system.
Vehicle vibration is caused by the following phenomena: the car engine is lacking or stalling when accelerating; the vehicle passes the deceleration line at a certain speed; the vehicle runs stably at first and begins to vibrate a lot when operating for a long time.
2. Faulty brake system
![]() |
Frequent sudden braking increases friction and wear, which exceeds the brake disc's ability to handle. As a result, the brake disc will deform, with some parts rising and some parts falling... When the brake disc is deformed, the brake calipers and brake pads cannot tighten the brake discs to stop the vehicle, causing the vehicle to vibrate.
In this case, you should take the car to the center, the repairman will remove the brake disc or drum to clean and straighten it if the disc is warped.
In case of uneven disc wear, a lathe is needed to remove the outer layer, making the surface flatter and smoother, reducing vibration and making the brakes more effective.
3. Loose, unbalanced wheels and bent bearings

Loose wheels or unevenly mounted wheels will cause the car to vibrate most strongly at the steering wheel of the car. You need to check and tighten all the wheels with the hub.
Car vibration can also be caused by damaged wheel bearings; bearings are very durable parts, but when impacted strongly or hit by hard objects, they can break or wear out, causing the car to "shake" up and down; if left for a long time, the bearings will become more and more damaged, which is very dangerous for the driver.
If the car vibrates at a certain speed, adjust the tire. If the tire is worn, replace it. If the tire is worn unevenly, rotate the car tire. Check the roundness of the tire. If the tire is not completely round, check the pressure or replace the tire.
4. Car axle failure
![]() |
When there is a problem with the car's drive shaft, the car will vibrate according to the driving speed, the higher the speed, the more the car vibrates. Drive shaft failure is common in vehicles using rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems. When driving over rough terrain, due to the drive shaft being impacted, warped or worn, the car will vibrate at increasing speed.
When the propeller shaft is faulty, the first thing to do is to replace the cross ball. If the vibration persists, the propeller shaft must be replaced... If the synchronizer joint cover at the end of the propeller shaft is torn or comes loose, mud and dirt will stick to the moving joints, causing the joints to jam and vibrate.
5. Machine base bolt is broken
![]() |
When the engine base bolt is loose or broken, the engine still starts easily, nothing is heard at low speed, but when going up to high speed, there is a rattling sound, the engine vibrates a lot if running at a speed greater than 40km/h. You should check the engine base bolt again, tighten it or add new bolts.
