What color car is most likely to have an accident?

According to statistics from driver safety experts at Road Angel (a company specializing in researching and manufacturing car safety products in the UK), cars with red paint are the most dangerous on the road. Road Angel's research revealed that up to 60% of red cars have been involved in accidents.

The next most dangerous paint color is brown, with Road Angel reporting that 59% of cars with this color have been involved in an accident. Black car owners should also be careful, as the study also found that 57% of black cars have been involved in an accident.

For dark colored cars like black and brown, the high accident rate can be explained by their poor light reflection and road visibility, especially in bad weather or at night.

Therefore, owners of dark colored cars may pay higher insurance premiums because insurance companies take into account the greater probability of accidents than light colored cars.

With the above explanation, it is easy to understand why light colors like white or silver have a much lower accident rate, just under 50%. Cars with these colors have good recognition on the road, leading to a lower chance of having an accident.

“The color of the car is important, but the most important thing is the ability to drive it and its technical condition,” says Road Angel expert Gary Digva. “Buying a red car doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get into an accident, and buying a white car doesn’t mean you’re invincible on the road, so no matter what color your car is, always be careful behind the wheel.”
